How to filter User IDs in Excel that begin with "ay" (e.g., "ay12345"), especially when the column contains a mix of formats such as numbers, emails, and User IDs.


Resolution

To filter User IDs starting with "ay" in Excel:

  1. Select the column containing the User IDs (e.g., Column A).

  2. Enable Filtering:

    • Navigate to the Data tab on the ribbon.
    • Click on the Filter button (funnel icon).

  3. Set a Custom Filter:

    • Click the drop-down arrow in the header of the column where the User IDs are located.
    • Hover over "Text Filters" and select "Begins With...".

  4. Specify the Condition:

    • In the "Begins With" pop-up box, type ay as the filter criteria.
    • Click OK to apply the filter.

  5. View Filtered Results:

    • Excel will now display only the rows where the User IDs start with "ay".
