FAQ: Forgot Password Link Update

Was there a recent change to how the "Forgot Password" email link is generated?
Yes, a change was implemented in version 24.09. Previously, the link always defaulted to the main base URL. This created an issue for clients using multiple URLs for their site, as it didn't allow for specific URLs for different departments or logical domains.
How does the new system determine which URL to use for the "Forgot Password" link?

The system now uses a smarter process to generate the link. It checks for a valid URL in the following order:

  1. Organization URL

  2. Logical Domain URL

  3. The system.baseURL setting in ekp.properties

  4. The URL the user was on when they requested the password reset

Where can I manage the new settings for the "Forgot Password" link?
You can now manage these settings directly within the user interface under Organization Maintenance and Logical Domain.
